With all of the controversy over new healthcare, we thought it would be a good idea to hone in on the positive changes happening, and benefits you may be able to take advantage of with these new plans. Many plans now provide free cancer screenings, immunizations and even diet counseling. Here are some things to look for with new coverage and how to navigate your way into these freebies.
- Preventive Care
Most plans must cover preventive services free of charge. This means you won’t have to pay co-pays, co-insurance, or even meet your deductible first. Just remember that network restrictions still apply so make sure you are visiting a doctor or other provider in your plan’s network.
- Gym Memberships
Many healthcare plans are now offering gym membership reimbursement opportunities, or discounts. The amount discounted will vary among different providers so you may need to call and see the amount of savings offered.
- Mental Health
Although you may still be required to pay co-pays for addiction and mental health services, these must be covered under the Affordable Care Act. Additionally, you may be limited to a certain number of visits.
